When I was in class one
We bought a new car
A yellow WagonR
Its been 13 years now
And we still have this car
So many memories attached to it
It gets me all nostalgic.
***
I remember the days that
How we use to travel
From Alwar to Delhi.
And moved our dogs
From one posting to another.
 Its traveled a lot
In these past 13 years.
 ***
From to Alwar to Jammu,
To Nasirabad and Hyderabad,
And Assam and then Allahabad
Now back to Alwar it shall go
The place where we bought it long time ago.
***
Learning driving at the age of 18
It’s me and my WagonR
Driving down to the driving school
And then returning back
There’s not a moment now
That I don’t miss my friend, my WagonR.
 ***
Now my dogs are old
And need more space to stretch
And we move yet again
On our posting next.
A new car; an SUV my parents bought
And pushed my WagonR out in the cold.
 ***
Now my darling stands in open
Covered; gone  is the comfort of the garage.
But to its last breath
I shall use; As none can replace
The attachment that I have
With my old, yellow WagonR.

Be Yourself

just-be-yourself

By-Rishika Ghai

Everyone is different
Don’t  judge them by their status symbol
Status it doesn’t matter at all
What matters, what counts, is the inner beauty
And simplicity of a person.
So be what you are.

***

Who you are, your color, your religion
Or from which background you belong
Are immaterial. Don’t copy. Be original
Rich, middle class, lower middle class, or poor
That’s got nothing to do with your soul
So just be what you are.

***

Do not compare
Instead be grateful for what you have
Do not regret
Other person might not even have
What you don’t value but you have.
So just be what you are.

***

Never apologies for something that you didn’t do.
Don’t bend backwards to please others.
Be simple. Love yourself.
Respect yourself.
Value yourself.
And just be what you are.

Distances Don’t Matter

I met someone somewhere
Whom I didn’t know earlier
A friendly and a down to earth person
Who later became a part of our life.
***
I met him at his home
On the day my parents had their anniversary.
After that we kept on meeting
On our regular visits for dog’s checkups.
***
As I got to know him better, attachment grew
We bought all our dog’s accessories from his clinic
We spent some quality time together. My family and him.
Today, I remember all the precious moments spent with him.
***
As time passed the bond became stronger.
The homemade beaten coffee and kurkura
For my brother were integral parts of our evenings.
His Pedigree packets me and my brother converted into chairs!
***
My furry buddy Simba was also selected and given by him.
On my birthday I sent him an invite
Both the families enjoyed a memorable dinner that night.
And that’s how we all came closer.
***
Before leaving that Ajmer he invited us
For last for dinner together. And that was the last we met.
Thanks to social media we are still connected
And to the most lovable person I know, I dedicate these lines.

The Dentist’s Chair

By-Rishika Ghai

The worse thing in life
Is to sit, do nothing and wait

People want their work to be done
And over with as fast as possible
Hence they hate to wait.
Waiting in queue for check up,
At the dental clinic
The fear of unknown and the dental chair
Making them impatient
Do they have any alternative?
Cancelling all the other appointments of the day
To wait to be drilled on the dentist’s chair
Is the sad reality faced by everyone who suffers.

Overconfident

20150807202838-success-couple-man-woman-sunset

By-Rishika Ghai

Achieving your goal of becoming successful
Is not the only thing in life
You should never forget
Those who helped you achieve it.

Sometime people attribute their
Success to their worth
Mostly it is said by children
To their respective parents.

Suggesting that their parents did nothing for them
Hinting that they have grown up on their own
Without any support and sacrifice
And have also became successful.

But they forget that
Without parents they are nothing
For parents are like roots of a tree
And we are the branches of that tree.

Every requirement of the tree’s branches is fulfilled by roots.
So never forget the importance of parents in your life
And remember to thank them for their support
As they are the biggest reason for success in our life.

ख़ुशी

unnamed

Be Regular

stressed-worker

By-Rishika Ghai

Studying; the most important
Thing in children’s life
But they do not realize it
And take it as a burden.

***

Going to school;
But no regular studies.
Only study when
They have exams.

***

Overworked by curriculum
Result; stress and tension,
Leading to low grades,
Low self esteem and zero confidence.

***

So avoid the pressure of studies
Complete your homework daily
And study on regular basis
Then surely you shall get good grades.

A Wake-up Call

sb10069478bd-001_xs
By-Rishika Ghai
In today’s world
People don’t have time
For themselves and family
Due to overwork.
*
People should understand
That it is harming their life
By not allowing them to live the way they want.
Don’t you see!! It’s pushing you down due to burden!
*
So wake up people!
Leave your tensions and burdens behind
And enjoy the life to its fullest
As you shall not get it again….ever!!
